Sylvania
Tsunami Swim Club is a USA Swimming year-round competitive
swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique
instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to
provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and
achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to
international competitor. The Sylvania Tsunami Swim Club was
established in 1976 by high school coach emeritus Dennis (Butch)
Graves to train the children of Sylvania who might ultimately end
up swimming on Sylvania High School teams. Through the years,
our club has grown to include swimmers from many areas, including
Sylvania, Michigan, Toledo, Maumee and WoodCounty. Our primary
year-round training facility is the Northview High School
Natatorium. The Blue & Senior groups also use Laurel Hills
Tennis & Swim Club during the Long Course
Season.
All of
our coaches, as members of the American Swim Coaches Association,
have access to the most comprehensive training and certification
program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They
provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be
quality time.
The Sylvania Tsunami Swim Club, a
non-profit club, is run by its elected, volunteer Board of
Directors which meets each month. The club’s purpose and
structure are defined in the Sylvania Tsunami Swim Club
Constitution.
